Peer Support Programs

Our peer support groups link people with a shared life experience. Our belief is that folks that share similar life experience can lift each other up and help each other thrive.
Please review our Program Policy below:

This is a safe space and a brave space.

Be honest about your feelings and thoughts.

Use “I” statements to express yourself.

Take turns speaking and listen attentively. Don't interrupt others.

Keep your comments relevant so everyone can participate.

Turn off or silence all notifications on any devices you have and step out if you must take a call.

Demonstrate respect of cultural differences and diversity of views.

No one is better than another – we are all equal with different perspectives and lenses.

Respect confidentiality. Do not share identifying details about other members after leaving this space.

During our time here on Zoom, we will have certain rules specific to online communication.

Please do not screen share without permission from the facilitator.

Please do not share inappropriate images, words, or other content either in the chat, in your background, or through screen sharing. (Inappropriate content includes but is not limited to: pornography, discriminatory words/phrases or imagery, threats to body or mind of another or self, ableism, racism, ethnophobia, biphobia, transphobia, homophobia, classism, or sexism.)

Members may be removed from the meetings at the host(s) discretion.

Breaking the rules may result in removal from this group, per the hosts' discretion, and you will not be allowed to participate in any other peer support groups through the San Gabriel Valley LGBTQ Center.

Thank you,

Contact: Jessica Amaya -, Sara Acevedo -

Place:  4141 Maine Ave. Baldwin Park

Date & Time: Every Wednesday at 5pm

Attending Connecting With Pride for the first time can be a really scary thing. After all, this might be your very first ‘gay’ event. You will meet people different from yourself, people who look like all the colors in our gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer rainbow. You will also meet people just like you. Everyone is willing to let you be yourself. Everyone will accept you as who you are. Connecting With Pride is a safe place to be who you are whether it means you're questioning or you identify as LGBTQ+.

Besides being safe, you are coming to a place where we have fun, where you get to meet people from all over the SGV and where you can make friends. So, just so you know what to expect, here’s what happens:.

Once you come in the door, you will be greeted by a member of the Youth Steering Committee. They will go over the rules with you, and ask you to sign a copy of those rules. They will show you where the snacks and restrooms are located. Then they will introduce you to the other attendees.

OK, you might be too shy to want to talk to anyone the first time (or the first few times) and that’s OK. You can sit and watch until you are comfortable. No one will make you hang out with anyone else. No one will make you participate in any activity you don’t want to do. No one will make you do anything you don’t want to do.

The first hour is the social hour. We hang out, have a water and a snack.
The second hour is the program hour. We have a different program every time.

So, come to a Connecting with Pride. You don’t have to be alone.
