Sara Marie Acevedo
Sara Acevedo is the Secretary of the Board and Director of Programs for the San Gabriel Valley LGBTQ Center and currently holds a BA from Cal Poly Pomona in Gender, Ethnicity, and Multicultural Studies. She was raised in El Monte, California and currently resides in Covina, California. She lives with depression and generalized anxiety disorder. While she has many passions she loves television and film and has a podcast with her best friend, Board Member Hannah Johnson, that breaks down LGBTQ+ media called The Queers Are Watching. She created a Safe Zone Training for local employers and educators and goes across the San Gabriel Valley educating others on how to provide a safe space for LGBTQ+ youth along with the President of the SGV LGBTQ Center, Jessica Amaya. Everyday she works towards a safer space for LGBTQ+ folks, people of color, people in poverty, and folks with disabilities.
